Boy Scout Day Camp

This summer was our very first Boy Scout Day Camp! Stephen and his Mommy had a blast! Although Camp Mountaineer is WAY down in a valley and the parking is WAY up on the hill....just to put it into perspective...the walk up has a tortuous short cut aptly named "cardiac hill". I only dared take it on the last day. I can tell you this...it is appropriately named! When I got to the top I thought I was going to die felt great though...

The boys had a blast....there was swimming

Fishing
Sand boxes
and where there are boys and water, there is mud

Dart game, Dunk tanks, resting...

Mining for gold
Water activities....

Making friends...Games...
of course there was a fire...
The boys also learned how to shoot a sling shot, bow, and BB Gun (all of which my son thinks he now needs)...they learned a few camping songs, went shopping in the store, tye dyed shirts, stamped bandanas, made tie snakes...whew what a jam packed week it was!

and flag lowering at the end of camp.
So now my son and his pack are no longer Tiger Cubs, they are now Wolfs!
So here is the whole crew of Wolfs:

Off of Hiatus (at least for a little while)

I realized that I was missing my blog and my blogging friends!

So at least for now, I am going to start blogging again. It may be just once a week or so.

I cannot believe summer is almost over! WOW did it zoom by! My son is hesitant about going back to school, but he really has been missing his friends. He misses going to the Scout meetings too (they do not have these in the summer)! Oh yes...he had an accident right before school was out and broke his arm! He dealt very well with it! I was so proud of him.

We are fortunate to have a great summer program to send him to. They have known him since he was 2 years old (he is now 7 ¾). He went swimming Mondays and Thursdays. When a new kid movie came out they went to see it (and road public transportation, which the kids love). They also did crafts, and held plays for each other.

This summer was our first ever Boy Scout Camp. We were so very lucky to be involved this year. It is the 100th anniversary of Scouting! Wow, was that an exciting week. I will be posting pictures to catch everyone up. The boys (and parents) had a great time…it was very exhausting and HOT.

When I last left off, we were doing the Biggest Loser at work. Well….I WON!!! I kept it off for a while but started to gain the 20 lbs I had lost back. Soooooooo back to Weight Watchers I went! So far I have lost 13.5 lbs in three weeks! I have started to exercise in the mornings. My dogs love this; they get to go walking around the neighborhood and be nibby.

I am in a LAEDership training program through my work until the end of October. It has been an excellent experience. I have learned a LOT about how a great leader should be. Last conference we went over public speaking! I had to do 6 speeches and put together a power point presentation (all of which I had little to no experience in). Well after all of it, I came away with a better grasp on public speaking as well as what to do when I am speaking. I didn't realize there was so much to think about…where to look, what to do with your feet, legs, hands….auugghhhhh.

Any way….it is good to be back and I look forward to catching up!
